If you, like me, had the dream of studying the universe and you ever wondered, Will I ever get to NASA? Well, let you know, I indeed attend NASA after setting aside others´ opinions, focusing on myself, and finally, achieving my goals. I want to tell you that, one of the keys to life is to believe in yourself and trust the things you want to do, however crazy or impossible they sound. Besides, we don’t need to be brainiacs to achieve our goals. I participated in the International Air and Space Program 2017 and I must say that, although at some point in this program, I was afraid I realized that fear slows us down or drives us depending on the approach you decide to give. This amazing experience taught me that sometimes there are once-in-a-life opportunities that we must use and take advantage. Never wait for things to come alone. One of those opportunities came to me when I was accepted into the Lunar and Planetary Institute Summer Intern Program in Planetary Science 2018, to work on a project entitled Location and Degradation State of Chaos Across Europe, Is There Old Chaos?, to study a surface feature of Jupiter’s Europa moon, using satellite imagery from Voyager and Galileo space missions, as well as Geographic Information Systems (GIS), working with the institute’s director, Dr. Louise Prockter, and Dr. Jonathan Kay. I was an engineering student in environmental geology at the time and I know other extraordinary people who just like me trusted themselves and that thanks to AEXA, they opened their minds and accepted opportunities that have taken them on paths that bring them closer to achieving their goals. I want to leave you a small list that I consider relevant not to give up on the attempt:
1. Trust in you 2. Open your mind 3. Know your abilities and identify the things you need to improve. 4. Fear is a completely normal feeling, do not be ashamed of it, but rather take it as an impulse to create and grow. 5. To be wrong is not a sign of lack of ability, many life lessons come from our mistakes. 6. Break with the stereotypes that you form in your mind and create your own idea of successful people and success. 7. Find all possible viable mechanisms to achieve your goals.
