The IMIRP is designed for medical students in their final year, as well as for graduates. 

​If a career in medicine is just what the doctor ordered, a medical internship can equip you with the tools and training to land your dream job in healthcare. We are looking to recruit 4 students from Canada and Mexico and Latin America to participate in the IMIRP 2023.

If you are ready for a month-long hands-on once of a lifetime career-based competition and an experience that ends with the opportunity to be chosen for a yearlong internship in the world’s largest medical complex this program is for you. 

​This program is intended to show you the real life demands of the medical industry while providing an environment to guide and assist you while building strong curricular value.

To participate candidates will be required to speak, read, and write in English. The student must be entering their last year of medical school and perform at the top of their class.

This program only accepts candidates who are confident of their career path and who are ready to focus on the aspects of a medical career. Upon arrival candidates will have a full workload schedule at the Dorrington Clinic and be responsible for personal patient care alongside several mentors.

​In the IMIRP internship you will work alongside experienced medical professionals to improve and expand your clinical knowledge and skill set, develop your confidence and resourcefulness, build your personal and professional network, and sharpen your verbal and non-verbal communication. 

The expectations are high, and along with your performance in the clinic, your work ethic and character will also be considered. We are looking for candidates that are fully committed to the innovation of medicine and prepared to successfully commit to a yearlong internship placement at Dorrington Clinic.

AEXA’s Dr. Fernando De La Pena Lllaca and Prof. Joseph Varon, MD, FACP, FCCP, FCCM, FRSM have collaborated to create a four-week IMIRP.

Upon arrival candidates will have a full workload schedule at the Dorrington Clinic and be responsible for personal patient care alongside several mentors.

Across their world-class complex, they are harnessing the collective expertise of members and partners to drive advancements in research, development, production, commercialization, and patient care. Candidates will Study alongside with Dr. Joseph Varon, MD, FACP, FCCP, FCCM, FRSM and his team at the Dorrington Clinic in Houston, Tx.

As Chief of Critical Care at United Memorial Medical Center Dr. Joseph Varon will coordinate special privileges for our students at selected hospitals in the Texas Medical Center while you are enrolled in the IMIRP. This will give you opportunities to experience medicine inside the heart of Texas Medical Center so that you too can feel like a part of the TMC commitment to collaborative medicine and research that will continue to better millions of lives.

Registrations are open for students in Canada, Mexico and Latin America. Spaces are limited to 4 each month.

During this time, interns are considered physicians in training or Research Assistance and cannot practice medicine without supervision

You’ll see a healthcare system totally different from your own and gain experience with conditions and practices you’ve never seen before

Your placement runs from Monday to Sunday. So, your evenings and weekends are not going to be free time but must be utilized to study.

Cancellations and Refunds

Both student and parents agree that any cancellation and request for refund must be submitted in writing via email to octavio@aexa.biz.

Cancellation received.- Tuition less $400 non-refundable deposit

If the IMIRP gets canceled by AEXA fault students will be given the option to reschedule for a future IMIRP, or a full refund will be issued.

In the case, any activity or program gets canceled due to inclement weather or unsafe conditions no refunds will be issued.
